2009-2010 Season - Return of the DEAD!

Howell High School Performing Arts Department is proud to announce our 09-10 season. This years theme - Return of the Dead!

Zombie Prom -Music by Dana P. Rowe, Book & Lyrics by John Dempsey

Auditions: TBA - Probably 3rd week of September
Show Dates: 11/13-11/15.
This girl loves ghoul rock and roll Off Broadway musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage.

Blithe Spirit - by Noel Coward
Auditions - 12/08
Workshop - 12/09
Callbacks - 12/10
Show Dates - 03/19-03/21
The smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages, this much-revived classic from the playwright of Private Lives offers up fussy, cantakerous novelist Charles Condomine, re-married but haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira who is called up by a visiting "happy medium", one Madame Arcati. As the (worldly and un-) personalities clash, Charles' current wife Ruth is accidentally killed, "passes over", joins Elvira and the two "blithe spirits" haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.

How To Succeed In Business.......

Power, sex, ambition, greed... it's just another day at the office. From the authors of “Guys And Dolls” comes one of the most delightfully irreverent musicals of all time. A satire of big business and all it holds sacred, “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little handbook called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive, tackling such familiar, but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant "company man," the boss' whiny, nepotistic nephew, the office party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love.

Tickets are available at Eclectic Twyst & the HHS main office.

Show Times
5/8 & 5/9 @ 7
5/10 @ 2

Advanced Drama Final

Received with mixed reviews at its premiere in 1938, but awarded the Pulitzer Prize, Our Town has become one of the most popularly produced plays of the twentieth century. It is quite possible that on almost any given day of the year, somewhere in the world, Our Town is being performed by either a professional company or an amateur troupe of actors.

The show is Tuesday, 04/28 & Wednesday, 04/29 at 7:00 pm in K-5. Hard to believe, but the show is FREE!!!

Friday, April 17, 2009
