Mike's untimely death prevented him from proposing to his long time girlfriend and love of his life, Ellie. Mike enlists his new found zombie friend, Brent, on a quest for his lost love and to unravel the mystery of his untimely death. What ensues is a hilarious road trip across country as the two zombie friends are pursued by a team of bounty hunters employed by the sinister corporation responsible for their zombification. SUMMER FIELD TRIP -Who wants to go see Shakespeare??????????

On July 25th, I am organizing a trip to Jackson, MI to the Michigan Shakespeare festival to see 'All's Well That Ends Well'. We will meet at the Dairy Queen in Howell at 5:30 and leave around 5:45. The plays starts at 7:30 and there is a talk back with the actors afterwards. The tickets are $27 for adults - $15 for students. PLUS you will need to chip in for gas. There are limited spaces in the car and this is a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in going, please email me at maloa@howellschools.com to reserve your spot.

Never heard of it? Only used the title as a cliched saying? What's it about? According to their website.....

"Who cannot be crushed with a plot?" Act IV Scene III
Is Helena devious and obsessive in her love for Bertram, or honest and righteous? Is Bertram an irredeemable and disdainful rogue, or a young man in need of life experience before wedlock? This romance comedy, with its captivating themes of male versus female, society's view of merit and rank, and the value of honor and integrity, keenly exposes each audacious plot after plot, until all ends well -- or does it?

If you want more info, check out their website - http://www.michshakefest.org/index.php

** This is NOT a school sponsored event! Don't even think about suing me!

CTH -AUDITIONS- for a world premiere of a new work

Book and Lyrics by: SHIRLEY MITCHELL Music by: STUART MITCHELL aka Heywood Banks

Welcome to the swamp! This is a story of love, treachery, and redemption. It is loosely based on a 17th century folk song. A FROGGY WENT A-COURTING. The timeframe is as old as enchantment, the story as new as spring love. It opens as our self- indulgent Grey Cat orphans a baby mouse when he makes lunch of her mother. Grey Cat, realizing the consequences of his actions, engages Uncle Rat, the most prominent creature at the pond, to care for her. She grows into a lovely, sheltered mouse, having been educated by Uncle in every subject except real life experience. As Uncle grows old he fears leaving her alone with no one to care for her so in secret, he solicits the help of his friend, Grey Cat, to find her a beau. Uncle’s long lost nephew arrives, along with problems and growing turmoil as Miss Mousey has recently fallen in love with the pond’s hero and swamp musician, the very charming, Froggy. The story becomes entangled with spurned lovers, unrequited hearts, and a growing suspicion in Uncle’s heart that meddling in love could prove disastrous. The colorful, supporting creatures bring humor, fun and gossip to the mix. The eighteen new songs that run from jazz to rockabilly to folk to torch will linger in the minds of the audience long after the lights go out. Bring the family and sit back, as a new folk tale unfolds, enchanting and capturing the attention of new audiences.ROMANCE! MURDER! SINGING FROGS! What more could one ask? SWAMP OPERA CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Miss Mousey: (F)(minimum age 14 must appear 16 or older) an orphan who is pampered and protected. She is a poet and a dreamer and happy to live in her safe world with Uncle Rat until she meets Froggy and discovers the strange wine called love. She must learn about life and finding her way and must overcome fear, self doubt and loss to finally join her man. Sings duets with Froggy and Miss Toad, as well as a solo song.
Froggy:(M)(minimum age 14 must appear 16 or older) The Archetypical Hero, he is brave, eager, romantic, idealistic and “a pretty good musician.” He gets all the girls and is pretty nonchalant until he meets Mousey. He sings with other Frogs, and Miss Mousey so must be able to carry solo singing.
Gray Cat:(M)(30 and older will have a mature look) begins the show as a self indulgent feline but changes to a more enlightened and responsible creature as a result of his dietary choices…and then discovers.. more change is required of him. He has humorous wisdom in his earnestness. This is a comedic role and requires solo as well as duet singing.
Uncle Rat: (M) (30 + adult must appear middle aged) loving, protective, wise, and yet unwise perhaps, as he loves his adopted daughter and will sacrifice all for her. He and Gray Cat are old cronies solid in their devotion to each other. This role requires solo as well as duet singing with Gray Cat.
Horace (the fake) Raymond: (M) (minimum age 14 must appear 16 or older) A charismatic villain, he assumes a false identity to secure his happy future as Mousey’s husband and Uncle Rat’s heir. He is charming and a city boy with great style. But who is under that charming façade? Sings solo.
Miss Toad: (F) (minimum age 14 must appear 16 or older) A “Red Hot Mama”…she leads with her ‘charms” but hides a broken heart and must learn to value herself. Loves Froggy and will do almost anything to get him. She is jealous of Mousey’s good fortune and must choose to become an enemy or an ally and discover where real love is found. Sings solo and duet.
